I graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1985, after being a police officer in Rochester Minnesota for about three years preceding law school.
I spent my first approximately ten years as an attorney working toward and ultimately being partner with a large international law firm located in downtown Minneapolis. My practice with this firm generally involved large transactional matters. I left the firm in 1994 to open my own law office in Woodbury Minnesota, where I believe I was the first lawyer in town to open an office. (See Woodbury newspaper article)
Largely due to my involvement in the Woodbury community and ongoing relationships with Minneapolis firms, my practice in Woodbury rapidly grew. I bought a lake home in the Brainerd lakes area and ultimately moved there in about 2000. Over time, I built my second successful law practice in the Brainerd area. My practices in both Woodbury and Brainerd were limited to handling only business and real estate matters.
In 2017, I decided to sell my law practice in the Brainerd area and move back to the Twin Cities. My wife Diane and I moved to Eagan, not far from where I opened my original law office in Woodbury. We are very happy here, and I am excited about building my final law practice back where it all began.
Community involvement has always been very important to me, and I am proud to say that my past community involvement has included: Chairman of Lake Elmo Planning Commission, Board of Directors Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Board of Crosslake/Brainerd Chamber of Commerce, present member of Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
I was certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Real Estate Specialist over fifteen years ago, and continue to be certified as a Real Estate Specialist today. Fewer than 3% of attorneys in Minnesota are certified as Real Estate Specialists. I have been repeatedly named one of Minnesota’s Super Lawyers. I have been appointed to Boards of Directors of various businesses and have been a frequent presenter of seminars involving various business and real estate topics.
